the best part of a harley is you can make a harley into anything you want. make it fast light to light, make it more comfy, be a king of the baggers ripoff and make it handle, take a look at the load adventure sportster builds, the harley aftermarket is ungodly in size not even including the obvious universal fit parts. i love my sporty its no sport bike but the controls and bars and seat fit me like a glove since i picked them. a million storage options for any trip and going from an 883 to a 1200 with some cams and bolt ons was easy so its zippy. going from an 883 or 1200 to something like a 1250/1275 is just as easy. you can go as far as a 90ci hammer kit that makes 150+whp the options are endless and thats just the sportster.

The Harley Davidson is the weekend Cadillac Cruiser with the wife on back. PS it’s only bike. She’ll ride on. The KTM 890 is the jack of all trades Plus it’s 450 pounds lighter. If I had to sell one at 64 years of age I would let the Harley go in a heartbeat. Been there done that. Anyways, be safe out there, love to content. Peace out.

It’s funny how a pro-Harley video gets all supportive comments but thousands of other videos all over UA-cam are talking about how people gave up on them and refuse to keep or buy more HD’s. Specifically for the service department shadiness and costs as HD rips off its customers time and time again, all while being charged the cost of a decently advanced modern car for an 80s tech and engineered bike. If there wasn’t tons of evidence of HD dealers and service centers continuously ripping off its remaining customers, I would love to have one.

I will say it aint all dudes in gangs or old men anymore, theirs a new breed of younger harley riders that come from motocross and drifting and stuff like that so the idea that its gangs and old men is outdated AF. The Performance Harley scene brought a lot of new life and it also pushed harley to make these newer models with these newer features in a lot of cases. The M8 road glide is the crown jewel of harleys line up, a cam, tune, and intake/exahust will make great power over stock for cheap and easy. A good set of taller shocks and some t bars and they ride like a dream, they just need to be taller so plus 2 inches in the rear and plus 2 inches in the front with longer front end, a mid control kit would help with scraping. The inverted triple trees are fantastic for handling since they want to self center. call the bike ugly but I think they are good looking, but Im not into sportbikes, I like fast bikes I can actually ride for more than 50 miles at a time. Im not trying to ride around town I'm trying to ride across the country to the best roads and them rip the curves and canyons as hard as I can on something that wasn't intended to do so. I really appreciate your perspective its great to see someone new try a harley. GREAT VIDEO!

I owned a ‘98 Gold Wing and then a ‘06 Harley Ultra Classic. Feature wise the GW was better but the Harley “feels” better, so it’s like comparing different kinds of apples. Right now I’d LOVE to swap for a high end adventure bike. Unlikely my ‘06 will sell for enough to do that, but I can dream, which means I’ve been watching so many motorcycle videos this one showed up via YT algorithm.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I think Harley makes some of the best looking bikes out there... And like you for years I swore up and down I would never own a Harley... Couldn't pay me to own one ... But now at 60 and not a Dentist or Drug Dealer although I do work in the Pharmaceutical Industry.. I have to say the Road Glide I bought two years ago is the best bike I've owned ... getting ready to set out on a four to five thousand mile road trip in a couple days..

I had only ever ridden hondas mostly v4s and F6s, when a friend let me ride his Sportster. I was shaking all over the place vibrating like crazy couldn't use the rearview mirrors, couldn't hear myself think over the pipes. I didn't get it at all, slow, ugly, inefficient. Then in my 40s a friend let me ride his road King. Holy crap! That's an awesome bike! I freaking loved it! Can't afford one, but loved it.

Ever since I was 5 years old, I have wanted nothing but an Ultra Classic. I've had some other bikes, but I never really had an interest in them. Years ago, I bought a brand new ZX6R and traded it for an old sportster 4 months later. Sportbikes look silly to me. I live in Milwaukee, the home of Harley. I'm a heavily tattooed felon and former bodybuilder; I don't think any other bike would suit me or my personality. Plus, I love the fact I can fit a week's worth of luggage in my saddlebags, and I can lay back in the seat, listen to the stereo, and ride 1,000 miles in total comfort. I love the sound, the look, my whitewall tires, custom pinstriping, and old school Vicla style of my bike. Edit: I also don't like the Road Glide fairing. I prefer the batwing.

I'm with you on the nineties bikes😂. I graduated in 1990. 😂 I had subscriptions to cycle world, sportrider, etc. so I was lusting over those bikes when they came out ZX11, zx9,busa, fireblade. Then the TL1k, ZX14😂.I rode many many bikes back then. Only new bike I bought was rf900r. drooled over them all 😂. I ride a modified sportster these days😂 go figure😂

This is why I love my Victory. Same comfort as a Harley but better styled and without the "60 year old dentist" stigma that isn't really warranted anymore.

I'm one of those "old" guys - 78 now. You picked the right one - Road Glide - is the best Road Bike. I had a '06 Cobalt Blue Road Glide, big bore kit, Screaming Eagle Pkg 50,000 miles. It was a looker!!! AND it could go!! Never an issue!
